mVisa; Transforming Mobile Payments in Rwanda

The platform’s growth was also supported by a nationwide campaign to promote digital payments, spearheaded by the Rwandan government and the National Bank of Rwanda.
In 2023, mVisa continued to build on its success by introducing new features aimed at enhancing user experience and increasing adoption. One notable development was the integration of mVisa with popular e-commerce platforms, allowing Rwandans to make online purchases seamlessly. This move was in line with the global trend toward digital commerce and further cemented mVisa’s position as a leading mobile payment platform in Rwanda.
According to data from the National Bank of Rwanda, the volume of transactions conducted via mVisa reached an all-time high in 2023, with over 50 million transactions processed throughout the year. This growth underscores the platform’s critical role in the country’s financial ecosystem and its potential to drive further innovation in the digital payments space.
