In today’s competitive financial ecosystem, product design is no longer just about sleek interfaces or convenient features—it’s about deep behavioral insight, iterative design, and data-backed innovation. The rapid growth of digital banking and fintech solutions has drastically shifted consumer expectations, forcing traditional banks to pivot fast or risk irrelevance.
At Sustainable and Inclusive Digital Financial Services (SIDFS), we recently partnered with Zenith Bank Plc to help shape and scale one of its most promising innovations: @eazybyzenith. This digital financial service is more than just another mobile payment platform—it represents a strategic, user-centric shift in how banks engage underserved and digitally-savvy customers alike.
What Is Eazyby Zenith?
Eazyby is a QR-code-based payment solution developed to offer seamless peer-to-peer transactions, merchant payments, and bill services through scannable QR codes integrated into existing mobile devices and apps. The product aims to eliminate friction in digital payments by reducing dependency on USSD strings and card entry.
Users can:
• Scan QR codes to pay merchants instantly
• Send/receive funds directly via the app
• Integrate their Zenith accounts without complicated onboarding
• Access instant transaction receipts and history
• Use minimal mobile data or work offline in some cases
This is financial inclusion meets convenience—and it’s working.
The Thinking and Data Behind It
During our collaboration, SIDFS used human-centered design principles, behavioral science, and transactional data to refine product-market fit. We explored key usage patterns:
• 70% of digitally active Nigerians still rely on cash due to trust gaps and tech complexity. Eazyby addresses this with simplicity and transparency.
• Micro and small merchants, which make up over 85% of Nigeria’s retail economy, expressed preference for low-cost payment tools that don’t require special hardware—just their phones.
• In pilot markets, we observed 45% higher transaction completion on QR-based flows versus USSD among Gen Z users and small businesses.
These insights shaped the product’s onboarding process, language choices, and merchant interface.
A Milestone, Not the Finish Line
While the rollout success of Eazyby is impressive, innovation is never static. At SIDFS, we emphasize continuous iteration, testing, and optimization. A strong MVP is only the beginning; greatness lies in refining what works—and evolving what doesn’t—based on real user data and feedback.
Congratulations to the visionary Zenith Bank team on achieving this key milestone.
Let’s keep building better products for the next billion users.
